Most of you know that I handle the marketing & branding for Liga Photography and their Commercial/Portrait Division The Liga District.  Last year, we embarked on a fun project. Developing the brand and identity for The Liga District. I did the design and art direction, of course amazing photography by The Liga District, and we called on Kim of Lawton's Printer for the printing & production!! So we created a Launch Campaign, and as you see by the images it turned out great!!  It is Soft Touch Aqueous Coating with Spot UV.  It is one of the favorite pieces I have in my bag of experience, and I've very proud of it. Join me in congratulating Lawton's.. Among Many awards they received that night, the campaign I created for The Liga District won Best in Show for a Campaign.

Tips for Designing Custom Wedding Invitations
By Perfect Wedding Guide National Wedding Expert Susan Southerland
all images by Liga Photography
I am so honored to be posting as a guest blogger on The 2u Collection’s blog.  Amy is such a talented designer and had delighted me on many occasions with her drawings for The Susan Southerland Secret, but recently we were able to collaborate on a much more personal level.  Amy designed my wedding invitations.

I think the design really set the tone for our Colorado wedding.  Thanks to Jeffrey Stoner we added a fun insertion, a DVD narrated by my fiancé and me with photos of us from past Colorado trips.  We enjoyed sharing those memories with our invitees and for those who have never been to Colorado, it got them excited for the trip!
As a wedding planner, I am used to working with couples in creating their look for their wedding; I don’t want to say that I am detached, like a doctor, but helping them actualize their vision is far easier than creating one for myself.  So, today’s tips come directly from lessons I recently learned as a bride,  for those of you who will be creating your own invitation, or working with a designer like Amy to come up with your signature look.
1. Decide on a color scheme for the wedding.  It is much easier to design if you already know the overall look for the wedding.

2. Create an inspiration board for your wedding.  Look for photos of flowers, fonts and other images that convey the look and feel of your wedding.

3. Share that inspiration board with your designer (and keep it by your side if you are the one doing the design work).  It will help her get a better understanding of your vision and it will help you stay focused.

4. Don’t micromanage your designer (and don’t be too hard on yourself).  If you are working with a designer allow her to be creative and share her ideas with you.  Those ideas can be tweaked and molded until they are perfect.  If you are designing, remember, creativity can come in spurts, so give yourself plenty of time and then relax and let the ideas flow.

5. Keep pen and paper by your bedside.  You never know when an amazing idea will hit you and you don’t want to lose any gems.

6. PROOFREAD.  You don’t want any errors on your invitations.  Make sure to check and re-check your work.  Give a proof to a friend and have her check it as well.

Remember, the invitation sets the tone for the wedding… so give them the attention that they deserve.

Announcing Gracie!

Some of you who know me know this year I took a few week trip to my hometown in Illinois, I had a niece born, so I went to spend some quality family time. Not everyone knows this about me, but I have a degree in Film and Photography, so I took my camera and it was off for some serious family time!  I got to know my niece by doing some new born photography of her. Sometimes she loved it, and others she didn't like so much.. (see the Tutu!)  But here is the creation that came from it. I created these mini accordion baby announcements. They have hardbound covers and close with magnets! They were a huge hit, and something that will be offered by me from now on!  The photography of the product is courtesy of Liga Photography and the Photography of the Beautiful Gracie is by yours truly.

CUSTOM INVITATIONS VS. READY MADE

Amy1 Comment
All photography by Liga Photography, LLC.

We took advantage of the minimum order restrictions by using the same supplies over this brides full event. The above photo is her Wedding Package and the below package is her Bridal Shower Package.  As you can see we utilized the same supplies, while giving each piece it's own unique feel- and creating a cohesive look across all of her wedding related events.

So I am asked all of the time, Why are Custom Invitations More Expensive? Why go with a Custom Invitation over a Ready Made Invitation? I decided to write a blog to address these questions.. Please if you have any other questions you want answered- Comment and I will answer the best I can.

Why choose a Custom Invitation over a Ready Made Invitation?  I have found that the brides that seek me out for Custom Stationery do it because they want to add a Personal yet Unique flare to their wedding. I do my best to get to know my bride and groom and develop stationery for their event that reflects who they are as a couple, in addition to adding to the overall atmosphere and decor of their Wedding.

This was the beginning, supplies started coming in and the studio became a mess. Glass Vases, and Candles everywhere.

Is a Custom Invitation for You? Do you want to set the tone for your wedding from the moment your guest receive their first communication from you? Do you want something Unique and Different that your guests have never seen before? Do you want your guests to feel your personal touch and love for them throughout the process of your event, from Save the Date, to Thank You Cards?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then a Custom Designed Invitation is for you.

What will a Custom Invitation Cost?  Is a Custom Designed Invitation Right for my Budget?  The Standard Rule is to spend 4% of your wedding budget on Stationery. This will help you figure out if a Custom Designed Invitation is right for you. Custom Designed Invitations usually start around $1,500 for approximately 100 invitations, and can go all the way to 10,000 for a full wedding package. Pricing is really dependent on embellishments and types of materials used.  An invitation with no flare will be more modestly priced than an invitation that has silk fabric, a crystal brooch, etc.

My trusty & talented assistant Heather starting the process of Candle Escort Cards!

Why are Custom Invitation more expensive than Ready- Made invitations?  This question really has no short answer.  Printing in general is an expensive process unless you are printing in bulk. In that industry bulk is 1,000 or more. The more you print the smaller the cost PER PIECE is. When you are only printing 100 of something- you have to pay the same cost to set up that printing press- whether you print 1 or 10,000.  Not to mention there are order minimums on paper, crystals, ribbon, envelopes, etc.  Even if you need only 50 invitations you still have to buy supplies in the MINIMUMS they come in, and you still have to pay for the Printing Press Set Up.  For example you may only need 50 sheets of paper, but they only sell it in Reams of 250. As I mentioned earlier, The cost per goes down when you are printing in large numbers like 1,000 or more. But most weddings don't have a guest list that large. So you are having to divide the Cost of Set Up and Supplies over your small number, making the price point per MUCH higher. And each design is set up on it's own. So if you have a menu and an invitation you are paying for set up of both of those because the artwork and printing plates are different.

When we get a piece almost to completion, then it goes through quality check (above picture) and then is boxed, counted and prepared for delivery.

Ready Made invitations are printing in the thousands as Templates. The Main design is printed in BULK in the Thousands, Stored and then distributed around the country to different INVITATION VENDORS, who put them in a book. And then brides go in, search through the books and choose the invitation they like. When that order is placed, a smaller less expensive printer is used to print your name and personal information on the DESIGN TEMPLATE. So that the cost is less, they aren't haven't to set up and order supplies everytime an order comes in. They did this initially once in the beginning and printed in BULK.

After a few all nighters, the Product is ready to go! On to the venue for staging. That is me (top pic) alphabetizing escort candles. And (below) the wonderful Jessy Rivers from E-events with my assistant Heather, lighting and arranging! The guests will arrive at any minute!

To Recap: Custom Designed Invitations are more expensive because you are printing something unique and different in smaller numbers. They usually also include embellishments such as ribbon, crystals, brooches, etc. Which adds hand labor to the process. The above invitations have Lace Accents, and no machine can work lace accents. I always try and tell my brides that it makes more sense to purchase a package if you are going to have something custom. Then you get to take advantage of the supplies. If the paper only comes in Reams of 100 or 250, if you print your invites, thank yous, menus, etc. then you are making use of the supplies you HAVE to buy due to minimums.

And the finished Venue! It all looked beautiful and the guests were WOW'd from the moment the got their mail to the end of the wedding 6 weeks later. As you can see if you
Custom Designed Invitations in your budget they are well worth it.

FAVORITE VENDOR! Blush by Brandee Gaar

AmyComment
Okay, so I fell off the wagon.  I haven't done a Favorite Friday Blog in a while. Time is flying by and this wedding season has kept me busy!  And it's not Friday.. But.. I'm breaking all the rules, I hope you forgive me.

This Favorite Vendor of mine- first of all she is amazing, 2nd of all she uses pearls in her brand.. How could you go wrong there!

Introducing Blush by Brandee Gaar!! (Brandee forgive me for the delay!)

One of my favorite Wedding Planners!  See some images of her work and her comments below! If you are looking for a genuinely real and classy lady.. Brandee is it, she and her team put together some pretty fabulous weddings!

“I can’t believe I’m including this photo of my VERY pregnant belly but I just love this one!  Jessica has a very busy schedule so her mom and I planned most of the event.  Jessica just told us she wanted it to be romantic, classic, and black and gold (she and Adam are huge Knights fans!).  She was so stunned when she saw both the ceremony and reception.  She and Adam just kept telling us how much better it was then they ever imagined!  Definitely one of my favorites!!” (photo credit: Rhodes Studios- above 3 photos)

“This was a memorable wedding because the groom wanted to plan a surprise for the bride and he didn’t want ANYONE to know.  We hired Edwin McCain to play their first dance song live during the reception.  When the DJ announced the first dance, Edwin and the band came out of the back carrying their instruments and started playing!  He also played a song that he wrote specifically for Stephanie and her dad for their special dance.  Everyone in the room was wide-eyed for the 40 minute set and Gregg was thrilled we pulled it off!”
(photo credit: Heidi Mitchell photography- above photo)

“Such a fun wedding!!  Alisa and Steve wanted a Vintage Hollywood Glam wedding and boy did they take the theme all the way!  We hired Paparazzi dressed in vintage clothing with antique cameras to greet the guests on the red carpet as they entered the reception.  We had a backdrop on the ‘Walk of Fame’ for everyone to stop and have their picture taken.  Each guest got to experience what it was like to be a move star in the 1950’s!”

Modern Day Great Gatsby Wedding Style!

Amy2 Comments

See the Bridal Shower POST and Stationery

This bride came to me and asked for the Style of a Modern Day Great Gatsby. She was a modern bride, with some traditional flare, so we created invitations and paper creations for both her Bridal Shower and her fantastic wedding!  We decided to create a classy monotone look with amazing accents using White Metallic and Matte Ivory. Feathers, Pearls, Green Satin Ribbon, Ivory Lace and Iridescent Wood Grain, created Details that made her wedding shine.

MY FAVORITE TOUCH: The coloring Book!!

-----------------------------

Wedding invitations: Iridescent Pearlized Wooden Box, Lined with Ivory Lace. White Linen Metallic and Complimenting Ivory Matte Paper.  Inside a White Marabou Feather Fan- with pearl and ribbon accents.

Escort Cards: 3" Glass Votives with White Candles. Wrapped and Tied Metallic Translucent Vellum,  Each persons name and table assignments printed. It was an amazing site to see a table of candles all lit up.

Table Numbers: 6" Glass Round Vases, filled with Pearls with Iridescent Pearlized Wooden Numbers Resting Inside

Menus:  Ivory Matte Paper,  White Linen Metallic Paper backing, Satin Ribbon and Ivory Pearl Accent on the front

Coloring Books: We illustrated the story of the bride and groom and made it a coloring book for the children at the wedding.

Programs:  Ivory Matte Paper, Bound with White Linen Metallic Paper covered in Ivory Lace, Ivory Pearl Accent on the front

Other paper was Appetizer Tray Cards for Cocktail Hour.

Anthropology? yes please!

Amy6 Comments

So I have always loved Anthropology. Who doesn't? However, sometimes as cool as I think some of their ideas are, they always confused me.................... Until................. I actually had a bride as me to design an Anthropology invite. And the fun and enjoyment that came from it was....UMMMM....AMAZING! And now I think the designers at Anthropology are GENIUS!!! And I won't be a "Glory Hog". My wonderful assistant/go to/amazing interpreter of my crazy ideas Heather, developed this idea, and I executed it..

First the Save the Date. A Front and Back Masterpiece, with Metallic paper, textured gold fleck paper and green satin ribbon! (see above flowered pattern with layered ribbon back.

So..Drumroll please!!!! Unique, interesting, fun, and truly showed bride and groom personality! (Above see the Save The DAte and Full Invite Displayed!

On the invite we used several different metal embellishments that came in square, oval, circle, etc. In bronze, silver, gold, etc. Making every invitation unique to each guest. A fun interesting Flare that brought both individuality and earthy elegance to the project!

As pictured int he main picture you can see, the invitation opened in an interesting way. When you turned it over, it was tied with a grass green satin ribbon, to which you un-tied to unveil a folder which contained the response card and envelope and what normally would be insert Cards..

So if you love Anthropology as a theme, as a piece of decor or even just as an admirer who is afraid to try it.. COMMENT and give props to the Anthropology inspiration!!!

WPPI-2010

I had the great pleasure this year to accompany Abby Liga of Liga Photography, LLC. to WPPI in Las Vegas. (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International)  I went with her to research all the wonderful albums, boxes, printing and just down right amazing photography there is out there.

Many of you may not know, but I actually hold a Bachelor of Arts in Photography & Cinematography.  Which somehow led me into running my own Graphics and Design Business.

I saw some amazing photographers work, I saw some amazing photographer speak. It was overall an inspiring and invigorating experience. As an artist, I can only say you should surround yourself with people more talented than you. Even if it's not your speciality you will learn from them, be inspired by them and it will make your art better!

And because of contacts I met and inspiration that I felt. I am going to try and spear head a "FILM MOVEMENT!" Which I will explain later!  I just wanted to share what a great time I had, and how inspired I became.. and of course I had the best time with my great friend and sister. Miss Liga!!

PLAYGROUND ARTS & MUSIC FEST!--Save the Arts.

Amy5 Comments

This is going to be a political and artistic post. Those who know me wouldn't expect any less. We at 2u here, had the great pleasure of being an exhibitor at the 2nd Annual PLAYGROUND MAGAZINE Arts & Music Festival. It took place Sunday April, 18th at Lake Eola, Downtown Orlando, FL. We provided a booth where kids could come and create their own Mother's or Father's day card. And estimated 500-700 people visited the festival. It had everything from Student Art Exhibits, to Rock Wall Climbing, Drum Circles, World Wide Mushrooms (to be explained in the next post),Community art Projects, our Create a Card Station and so much more there isn't enough room to mention it all.

Which brings me to something very important and it should be addressed first. As any artist can attest, the experience and culture of being an artist or even just loving art is a wonderful thing that can lift you up and give you courage and purpose as your growing and feel lost. I can say, with an artist soul, sometimes while I was growing up, in class I never felt understood. Then would come ART CLASS. It was fulfilling, it was creative, it was where I felt 100% myself and didn't care I wasn't popular, or dating, etc.  THIS IS WHY SAVING THE ARTS IS EVER SO IMPORTANT. There are students right now, at every age, IN EVERY STATE finding their only identity in ART. Without it in our schools, children and young adults everywhere will BE LOST! No matter where you live, please get involved in your States, "Save the Arts Program."  IT IS IMPORTANT THAN YOU MAY KNOW.

Okay, now I'm finished with the lecture...to the point. There was an exhibitor at the 2nd Annual PLAYGROUND MAGAZINE Arts & Music Festival...Who brought the attention to the fact that ARTS in Florida are INCREDIBLY UNDERFUNDED!!  Please help us save the arts!!!

The Orange County Arts Education Center has taken it upon themselves to educate our community and help try and save the arts in our school.  For more information please visit: http://ocaec.org
And if you are really feeling ambitious, please write you congressman, your senator, your representative... anyone you think will help our voices become LOUD!!

This is not your mother's BRIDAL SHOWER!

Amy1 Comment

Recently I was asked to participate in a new kind of Bridal Shower. Abby Liga and Sabrina James enlisted several amazing vendors to gather together & change the way we look at Bridal Showers.  The Bride is a client of many of us, and has a great vision! The shower will be featured this year in Orlando Magazine & Some vendors participated: Lisa Konency of E-events, Lee Forrest of lee forrest design, Anna Hightower of Anna Cakes, Abby Liga of Liga Photography, Heidi Brice from Puff n' Stuff, & The Flipbook People.

The idea was to throw a shower that is new, fresh, fun and sophisticated. Try and break out of the traditional home-made cake, bridal games, etc.

They came to me with colors, and an idea. A modern day party from the Pages of The Great Gatsby!  This was a challenge but very exciting. I was commissioned to create everything from tray cards, brand signs, invites, etc.

What we did to keep cost down was create 1 amazing invitation for the Bride-to-Be, and then made matching ones for the rest of the guest.  The picture above shows both invitations.

The Bride-to-Be Invitation (below) was part Gatsby tradition, part Modern Trend.  We started with a wooden box, pearlized it, lined it with ivory lace and kelly green ribbon, and topped it with ribbon and pearls. On the inside a fan made from feathers with a tassel of pearls and ribbon. The paper used, was a white Metallic Linen, complimented by an Ivory Classic Crest. Both of Neenah Paper. (ps all photography by Abby Liga)

The Invitations for the Guests were a dialed down version of the above.  We mixed White Metallic Linen with Ivory Classic Crest, Accented it with 2 White Ostrich Feathers, 2 Pearls and Intertwined Ribbon. An Ivory Metallic Envelope finished it off!

Meet (from l to r) Kelly Davis, Danielle Stults (BRIDE TO BE) and Sabrina James dressed in true Gatsby style!

Some of the cool Paper we created for the event! Our theme throughout was carried through, Pearls, Lace, Ribbon, Metallic Linen. It created an amazing effect in conjunction with all the beautiful lighting, cakes, floral and food.  You can see the environment below.

The Flip Book People added some interaction to the event and a great time was had by all!  As you can see all of the participants were amazing and did their part! This is ONE LUCKY BRIDE!

FAVORITE FRIDAYS!

Drumroll Please..........Favorite Fridays is here again. And this week, my friend and amazing florist  LEE FORREST. Okay let's forget the fact that he has the most perfect name ever for the business he is in. His work is AMAZING!!. We finally just recently got to work together on a Bridal Shower, and of course his contribution was nothing short of AMAZING.

Check out some of his work below and learn about him from the Q & A! You can't go wrong showcasing his beautiful designs at any event you are throwing.

Why did you decide to become a floral designer?

I’ve always loved flowers—it’s the first thing I can ever remember wanting to be when I was five years old.  Even then, we knew that I had the creative gene, so to speak.  LOL!  Forty years later, here I am!

How did you get started?

I worked with other top designers in Louisville and Indianapolis before moving to Orlando in 1997.  When I finally decided that this would be my permanent home, I started building my business from home on the side, while working a day job with another well-known designer in town.  Eventually, my clientele base and my reputation grew enough that I could support myself with my own business.  When the business overtook my little one bedroom apartment near Lake Eola, I moved into my current storefront location.  We could definitely use more space, but we have also kept our overhead low and that has been crucial to our being able to survive these economic times and keeping our prices as low as possible to our clients.  We are considered higher-end, but we are also budget friendly.

NOTE: this is the event we worked on together, and let me just say he took the invitations I designed and created these beautiful arrangements to further develop the concept we all were working so hard to create.

Why are these your favorite designs?

I love anything that is non-traditional and edgey.  Using wire, concrete blocks and other unexpected elements is another way for me to be creative and stand apart from my colleagues, but still maintaining sophistication and elegance.  Even people with discriminating traditional tastes find our work interesting.  Wire, especially, has kind of become a signature look for us.

If a bride has an unlimited budget, what should she spend most of her money on?

A good photographer—to capture your special day so that you can remember it for the rest of your life.  In fifty years to come--the food is gone, the flowers are gone, the music is gone—and the only thing  a bride will have to show for her wedding are her pictures---and a little old wrinkled man.   Pictures are SO important!

Lee and his team will not let you down, I have just showcased only a FEW of the amazing pieces he has created over the years!

It's that time again. I am glad to finally be blogging about the WONDERFUL TRACI MARINI, of Eventfully Yours!   She is one of the first people I met in the Wedding Industry and she welcomed me and showed me support like she had known me for years! Her personality can brighten any day.
You can see some of her amazing work below, and you can see how her infectious personality and personal touch weaves through Eventfully Yours! making here the success she is.

Natasha and Jason were very particular on what they wanted for their wedding day and I was thrilled that I could help bring their dreams into a reality! Photo by www.garrettnudd.com

Almost a year and a half ago my associate, Ashley, tied the knot at Summit Church (which is the church I attend and where her husband serves as the Worship Pastor) and then had her reception at Orlando Museum of Art. Obviously being in the industry she knew she wanted Tommy Murphy of Greenery Productions to handle her floral and décor and Arthur’s to handle the food and beverage. It was a wonderful party atmosphere with lots of food and plenty of dancing! The best part of the night was when Ashley’s sister, Lindsey, gave her speech and did an entire skit from My Best Friend’s Wedding and sang “Say A Little Prayer for Me”! Everyone was so into it and it was an absolute riot! Photo by www.corycallahan.com

Allison and Chris wanted a French theme wedding and Flourish helped bring her vision to life. We even had the tables named after French desserts and then when you were seated at your table, that dessert was waiting for you at your place setting! Photo by www.ephotographics.net

As you can see  TRACI does amazing work and she gives each one of her
brides the personal touch and attention they deserve!
Great Job Tracy! You know I think you rock!

I've been trying to blog this for about a week now. So I apologize. We've had some craziness start off the new year in both my house and at 2u! All good things, but a few things needed my attention..

Excited to announce in this issue of Central Florida Bride Magazine is a Feature article written by yours truly! I wrote case studies on several of my brides so that brides can see how custom invitations can cater not only to the decor and execution of their event, but also can reflect the personality of the bride and groom. It is that time again.. Which is hard to believe!  So here we are ready to showcase another one of my FAVORITE and inspiring Talents!

This week..
Jeffrey Stoner - of Jeffrey Stoner Video!!!

As you can see by the candid pics above, Jeffrey has a great sense of humor! He is not only a genius with moving image, but he is a genuine friend, and fellow lover of strange arbitrary movies, (and I think having a bro-mance with my husband over arbitraty music!). We have yet to share a bride, but I'm still trying to figure out how I can get him to make an interesting invitation video.  Check out some of his amazing work below and his comments on the event.

If you are in need of amazing video for any event, I would hire Jeffrey in a minute. His work speaks for itself. Plus he is the life of the party, and you're guaranteed an interesting evening when he is around.

Erin and David’s stunning New Year’s Eve wedding at the Sarasota Ritz Carlton came to a crescendo at midnight!  In all my years, it was as close to a “perfect” wedding as any I’ve ever shot.  Erin and David were inseparable and clearly, truly in love.  That, more than anything else, leads to a successful wedding documentary.  Of course, the décor, lighting, and surprise snowfall didn’t hurt!.  I produced this “teaser” clip for them the day after the wedding.  (vendors for this wedding included E-Events, Garrett Nudd, Beautiful Music, Dale Dees, and of course the Sarasota Ritz Carlton)

I just knew that Tanya and Carl would be ideal clients – they are very easy to photograph!  All smiles and beautiful emotion.  With some clients, the joy of their day is infectious and somehow makes even me feel a part of the proceedings – that was certainly the case with Tanya and Carl. I was so proud when footage from this wedding was featured heavily in a recent news story on WKMG for the “Just Cause” charity, and it went on to become the most-viewed clip I’ve ever hosted online!  (vendors for this wedding included E-Events, JR Sterling, and the Ritz Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes)

Happy New Year to All! And with that one of my resolutions is I am going to trying to stay in touch with you all more. (Yeah, yeah, I know it's only January... let's see if I will say in December that I was successful.)

So in the spirit of that, I have developed...(Wait for it) FAVORITE FRIDAYS!!

Every Friday I will showcase one of my FAVORITE and inspiring Talents!

This week..
Anna Hightower - of Anna Cakes!!!
"Me and my daughter Marlee at the Your Wedding TV bridal show in September. (above) She is the best helper/mascot ever!"

For those of you who don't know Anna, you are missing out.. She is
INCREDIBLY talented, and one of the most fun and positive people I've ever met. Oh and her cakes not bad either :)

As you can see by the cakes below, she is very talented. I can't even make cupcakes look this good. Some of you may know that I have a quiet obsession with (yes paper, that's a given and not quiet..) Amazing Wedding Cake reality shows.. And this girls deserves one of her own. She not only has the talent for it, but a sense of humor and personality to rival Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, the list goes on. Then I can sit cozy on my coach and watch her genius weekly- on Sundays. (yes that is what I do on lazy sunday afternoons. I call it WORK RELATED RESEARCH!!)

I sat down with Anna recently and I found out some interesting things! Take a gander below at the amazing cakes and her commentary on each!!

I always love when I get to see the invitations at a cake design session, because they are so graphic and literal -- a good one will jump-start my creativity. It is very easy for me to translate that into a cake design. The above is based on an invite one bride brought to me. :-)

This was my 1st ever sea shell cake -- made it my 1st year in business. It was a last minute order, and I had no idea how to make it when I agreed to the contract...so it was a total experiment. I used molds for the shells and free-handed the coral in white chocolate. I was so proud of this thing! Since, I have done a million of these, but this was the original.

This was my cake for the charity fundraiser cake competition "Let's Eat Cake" in Gainesville last year. Kerry Vincent was one of the judges (ala Food Network fame) and as evil as she seems on tv, she was actually extremely sweet in person. I didn't win, but I was happy with our cake. It was definitely the most original wedding cake there.

Cake I made for my friend Molly Brown (Cinematique Films) and Sharia Riley's (Style House)
Grand Opening Soiree!

another cake inspired by their invitations...

Getting to meet new and interesting people is one of the best parts of my job! This suitcase wedding cake was for one of the coolest couples I have had the chance to work with. The bride was American, and the groom was English (OMG his accent!) and they LOVED to travel. Each of the luggage "stickers" represented something or someplace meaningful to them.

For those of you who get so frustrated with planning your wedding you want to shoot someone... DRUM ROLL....... THE GUN CAKE!

This cake was absolutely the hardest cake I have ever had to do. My husband and I worked all day and night on this thing! It was 2' x 3' and had to be the EXACT replica of the Beretta 92 FS handgun. I was hired by Beretta last year to make this cake to feed 200 people. It was given to Mr. Beretta himself, (the richest man in Europe, they kept telling me. Ok! I get it!!! LOL) to commemorate the signing of the largest gun contract with the US Military since...I don't know, WW1 or something. Anyway, it was a big deal...and they said Senator Clinton and Tom Seleck would be there. But they weren't. pahaha

This is just a tip of the iceberg people. Check her out, you will NOT be disappointed. Oh and P.S. I hear she can replicate WOOD texture like mother nature herself!! :) (sorry a little inside humor there.)

Thanks Anna for taking the time to sit down and contribute!
